Stack weapons, build powerful combinations and battle unpredictable enemies in an inventive new puzzle roguelite from Japanese developer MONO ENTERTAINMENT.
What happens when you combine classic falling-block puzzles with roguelite combat and deckbuilding? Japanese indie studio MONO ENTERTAINMENT is hoping to answer that question with Drop Rogue, an upcoming PC game that has officially opened its Steam store page.
Announced on 5 November 2026, Drop Rogue offers an unusual approach to combat, challenging players to defeat enemies by dropping weapons onto the battlefield and stacking them into increasingly powerful combinations.
Rather than relying on traditional attacks, success depends on positioning, understanding different weapon abilities and making clever use of the space available.
Stack Your Weapons and Take Down Enemies
At the heart of Drop Rogue is a falling-block puzzle system where every placement matters.
Players drop weapons from above, positioning them so they make contact with enemies and deal damage.
However, not every weapon behaves the same way.
Each comes with its own shape and special properties, meaning players must carefully consider how objects fit together and interact with their surroundings.
Certain combinations can trigger additional effects or increase damage, encouraging players to experiment with different arrangements.
Enemies introduce their own complications, too.
Some opponents can set parts of the game screen on fire, while others can shrink objects, forcing players to rethink their approach as battles unfold.
It’s a system designed to make each encounter feel like a puzzle, rather than simply a test of speed or reflexes.
Build Your Deck and Discover Powerful Combinations
Alongside its puzzle mechanics, Drop Rogue features a roguelite progression system built around collecting weapons and other useful objects.
After defeating an enemy, players are presented with three possible items and must select one to add to their deck.
With more than 60 stackable objects planned, there are plenty of opportunities to develop different strategies.
Some weapons become stronger when connected to others, while certain objects deal additional damage depending on their position within a stack.
Support items, including batteries capable of charging nearby weapons, provide further opportunities to create powerful combinations.
As players progress, their collection of objects will influence how they approach future encounters, making each decision an important part of their overall strategy.
A Heavenly Computer Under Attack
Drop Rogue also features an unusual setting that helps explain its unconventional enemies.
The game’s world is managed by an enormous computer located in the heavens, responsible for maintaining everything happening below.
Unfortunately, the system has been overwhelmed by a mysterious outbreak of monster-like viruses.
With the situation rapidly deteriorating, an angel named Forn decides to summon a talented engineer from the world below to help restore order.
That engineer is the player.
Working alongside Forn, players must confront the invading viruses, using their collection of weapons and carefully planned combinations to defeat increasingly dangerous threats.
The studio has released an official gameplay trailer, offering an early look at the falling-block combat system and the game’s distinctive presentation.
When Will Drop Rogue Be Released?
Drop Rogue is currently in development for PC via Steam, with its official store page now available.
MONO ENTERTAINMENT has not yet announced a confirmed release date or pricing.
The game is expected to support English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.
Players interested in its mixture of puzzle-solving, strategic combat and roguelite progression can already add Drop Rogue to their Steam wishlist to follow future announcements.
With its unusual blend of falling-block mechanics, customisable weapon combinations and unpredictable enemies, Drop Rogue could offer an interesting alternative for fans of puzzle games and roguelites looking for something different.
