Blackthorn Arena: Reforged Deluxe Edition Launches on Xbox With All DLC Included

Ocean Media and Light Up Games bring the gladiator-management RPG to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, featuring improved visuals, tactical combat and the complete DLC collection.

The arena gates are officially open on Xbox, as Blackthorn Arena: Reforged – Deluxe Edition launches today, 5 November 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

The fantasy gladiator-management RPG arrives on Microsoft’s consoles through a partnership between Ocean Media and Light Up Games, bringing together the Reforged experience, quality-of-life improvements and additional downloadable content in one package.

Originally released on PC, Blackthorn Arena: Reforged combines deep character development with business management and tactical combat, putting players in control of their very own gladiatorial arena.

But building a successful fighting empire is about more than simply winning battles.

Build Your Own Gladiator Empire

Set in the fantasy world of The Freelands, Blackthorn Arena: Reforged begins with players inheriting a gladiatorial arena and taking responsibility for restoring it to greatness.

The objective is to recruit fighters, develop their abilities and send them into increasingly challenging competitions to earn money and reputation.

Players can purchase enslaved fighters and train them into formidable gladiators, choosing how to develop their attributes, combat abilities and equipment.

With 12 gladiator classes, seven weapon types and approximately 200 skills, there are plenty of opportunities to experiment with different builds and fighting styles.

Not every recruit needs to become a champion, either.

Some characters can take on supporting roles, including cooks, healers, drillmasters and blacksmiths, helping to maintain the business and prepare fighters for their next encounter.

Victory brings valuable income that can be reinvested into new equipment, recruits and arena improvements.

However, reputation is equally important, influencing the establishment’s financial success and its standing among rival arenas.

Tactical Battles Where Every Decision Counts

While management plays a major role, the real excitement begins when gladiators enter the arena.

Blackthorn Arena: Reforged features real-time combat with a tactical pause system, allowing players to stop the action and issue commands before continuing the fight.

An optional auto-battler mode is also available for those who prefer to focus on the management side of the experience.

Battles range from traditional one-on-one duels to four-versus-four team encounters, alongside tournaments, exhibitions and other competitions.

The game includes 15 arenas and 26 legendary champions, each presenting their own challenges.

Gladiators throughout The Freelands develop dynamically, meaning rival fighters can gain experience, suffer injuries or even die as their careers progress.

Following certain victories, players can decide whether to spare defeated opponents or order their execution, with those choices potentially influencing future events.

With around 500 pieces of equipment to discover, preparing the right fighter for each encounter becomes an important part of achieving success.

More Than Just Arena Battles

There’s plenty to do beyond organising the next competition.

Players can send gladiators on expeditions across The Freelands, exploring dangerous dungeons, investigating robberies and hunting powerful creatures.

Some expeditions can even uncover rare beasts that can be captured and brought back to the arena.

These creatures become part of special spectacles known as Venationes, introducing another way to entertain audiences and increase the arena’s reputation.

Meanwhile, unexpected events can disrupt daily operations, forcing players to make difficult decisions about resources, finances and the welfare of their fighters.

With more than 100 enemy types and an estimated 30-plus hours of gameplay, the game offers a substantial management and role-playing experience.

A New Partnership Brings PC Games to Console

The Xbox release also marks the beginning of a wider partnership between Ocean Media and Light Up Games.

Light Up Games has previously published several PC titles, including Mark of the Deep, Folklands and *Rainbow Le
