Where the Seeds Fall Launches on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam as CygamesEdge’s Debut Title

An emotional journey through a collapsing world awaits in the first release from CygamesEdge, combining challenging platforming with a story of loss, hope and an unlikely friendship.

Where the Seeds Fall is now available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, marking the debut release from Cygames’ newly established development brand, CygamesEdge.

Developed by CygamesEdge in collaboration with ZEREO, the atmospheric action-adventure takes players on a dangerous journey through the towering branches of the World Tree, where a single misplaced step could send them falling into the unknown.

With its distinctive setting, emotional storytelling and challenging traversal mechanics, Where the Seeds Fall promises a compact adventure built around the fear and excitement of descending from extraordinary heights.

A Journey Through a Dying World

Where the Seeds Fall takes place in a world devastated by a mysterious force known as the Blight.

With the surface no longer safe to inhabit, humanity has been forced to establish settlements high among the branches of an enormous World Tree.

Players follow a man who has lost everything, including his daughter, as he encounters a mysterious young girl known as a Fell Child.

Feared by society and regarded as an omen of disaster, the child bears a striking resemblance to the daughter the protagonist once knew.

Despite orders to abandon her, he makes the decision to protect the girl and escort her towards the surface world.

What follows is a dangerous descent filled with crumbling ruins, environmental hazards and discoveries that gradually reveal more about the mysterious child and the world around them.

Every Step Could Be Your Last

Rather than focusing on traditional combat-heavy gameplay, Where the Seeds Fall places a strong emphasis on movement, timing and environmental awareness.

Players must navigate unstable platforms, carefully judge distances and account for powerful winds that can affect their descent.

The enormous World Tree provides a striking vertical environment, with precarious pathways and deteriorating structures creating constant challenges.

One particularly interesting mechanic involves special flower buds found throughout the tree.

Players can collect these buds and throw them towards potential landing areas, creating blossoms capable of cushioning otherwise fatal falls.

Learning when and where to use these flowers becomes an important part of surviving the journey.

The combination of environmental hazards and carefully timed jumps aims to create a sense of tension as players make their way towards the ground below.

A Short Adventure with Extra Challenges

CygamesEdge has designed Where the Seeds Fall as a focused, story-driven experience rather than an enormous open-world adventure.

According to the developers, the main story can be completed in approximately three hours, offering a relatively concise journey through its world and characters.

However, reaching the end of the story doesn’t mean the adventure is completely finished.

Players looking for an additional challenge can tackle higher-difficulty maps and time trials after completing the main campaign.

These modes place greater emphasis on mastering the game’s movement mechanics, offering opportunities to improve routes and test precision.

A New Beginning for CygamesEdge

Where the Seeds Fall is also an important milestone for Cygames, the Japanese company behind franchises including Granblue Fantasy and Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

The game represents the first release under CygamesEdge, a new brand created to support smaller and mid-sized development teams.

The initiative focuses on creative experimentation, innovative gameplay concepts and giving developers greater freedom to explore ideas that might not fit traditional large-scale productions.

With Where the Seeds Fall, that approach takes the form of an atmospheric adventure built around one central mechanic: descending through an unstable world while protecting a vulnerable companion.

Where Can You Play Where the Seeds Fall?

Where the Seeds Fall launched on 5 November 2026, with digital versions available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

The game carries a recommended US price of $9.99, with regional pricing varying by storefront.

Players can find it through the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop and Steam.

CygamesEdge has also released an official opening cinematic, introducing the game’s world and the circumstances surrounding its central characters.

For players looking for a shorter, story-focused experience with challenging platforming and an unusual setting, Where the Seeds Fall could be an interesting addition to this week’s new releases.

With an entire civilisation clinging to the branches above, the journey towards the ground promises to be anything but straightforward.
